Mace Point / Wharf

The north shore of the Mace Point/Wharf area was the first developed area of the island with it's gentle walk on beach access. The Regional District wharf is located in this area as the main access point and is the only wharf on the island. There is no public moorage on Savary but many visitor drop anchor for a swim in our warm waters and a stroll along the scenic roads and beaches. Also in this area is the barge landing where building materials etc. are landed from the mainland. There are also two wooden tennis courts. There are many historic houses in this area including the house where author/entrepreneur Jim Spilsbury spent his later youth. The south shore of Mace Point is a high bank area overlooking the famous sandy "South Beach". This is one of Savary's most beautiful beaches with it's wide expanse of smooth sand and it's south east exposure. At a minus tide, Mystery Reef extends half way through the water from Savary Island to Harwood Island. Mace Point is the only large rock formation on the island with the rest of the island being a sand bar extending west in a crescent shape.
